Clive Palmer new party : Clive Palmer’s press conference took a tense turn as he unveiled his new political party, the Trump-et of Patriots.
The billionaire clashed with journalists over criticism of his plan to spend millions to get his Trump-inspired candidate elected as Prime Minister, with some dismissing it as “potty.”
Palmer’s United Australia Party (UAP) previously spent over $120 million in the 2022 federal election, securing just one seat despite increased support for minor parties and independents.
While new regulations aim to cap big-spending political donors, they won’t take effect until after the 2025 election.
Now, Palmer’s newly launched Trump-et of Patriots is gearing up for another campaign, pushing for restrictions on “men in dresses” in schools, home loan caps, and support for struggling families.
The press conference quickly turned heated when Channel 9’s Andrew Probyn called Palmer’s goal of winning enough seats to install his preferred candidate as Prime Minister “plainly potty.”
Palmer Faces Off with Journalists Over Political Aspirations
That’s because journalism in this country has a very low entry threshold, and many journalists lack proper analytical skills,” Mr. Palmer responded.
“In the coming days, you’ll see that President Trump’s policies have the support of over 30 percent of Australians, and a party adopting those policies could challenge the Coalition.
“You’ll witness our party gaining traction and winning seats in the House of Representatives. That’s exactly why we’re here. It happened in the United States, and it will happen in Australia too.”
Debate Sparks Over Election Spending and Trump-Style Policies
Clive Palmer’s dramatic entry into the 2025 election campaign could bolster Peter Dutton’s chances by redirecting independent and conservative votes toward the Liberal Party.
At a fiery press conference in Canberra, Palmer acknowledged drawing inspiration from US President Donald Trump and pledged to “Make Australia Great Again.”
One of his key concerns was the rising cost of living, claiming that many Australian families are struggling to afford food.
“There are over 3.7 million Australian households that can’t afford enough food due to the cost-of-living crisis caused by Labor’s excessive spending and public service waste,” he stated.
Palmer also highlighted his contributions to Foodbank, saying he has donated millions to support struggling families.
Palmer’s Agenda: Immigration, Economic Struggles, and Gender Issues
I want to inspire other Australians, especially billionaires who do nothing but sit around all day, to contribute. But that hasn’t happened—people prefer to hold onto their money. That’s why I believe the government should step in,” Palmer said.
“For over 20 years, Australian governments—regardless of political party—have masked the country’s economic struggles by relying on immigrant wealth, falsely claiming it as their own achievement to boost the economy. In reality, they’ve done nothing for the people they’re supposed to represent.
“Too many politicians are more concerned about keeping their seats because they know they wouldn’t find jobs elsewhere. I’ve been in this place—I’ve seen how both government and opposition members socialize together, sharing picnics and outings on weekends. They don’t actually dislike each other; they’re just part of the same system.
“And that’s why Australia hasn’t had real democracy. We haven’t tackled the tough questions in government the way Elon Musk is challenging the establishment in Washington. Instead, we’ve wasted public money.”
Palmer also argued that immigration is “overloading our infrastructure, roads, schools, and hospitals,” leading to increased congestion and the breakdown of communities.
“Australia should be for all Australians who live here. The Trump-et of Patriots will prioritize Australians and work to make the country great again,” Palmer declared.
He then highlighted concerns over trans women competing in female sports as a key issue.

“Our policy is clear—we recognize only two genders, male and female,” he stated.
“We believe women’s sports should be for women, and we oppose males dressing as females and creating confusion for children in our schools.”
“Every child deserves a safe and normal environment in schools and public spaces. They should have the right to determine their own identity and sexual orientation when they reach adulthood, rather than having these ideas imposed on them before puberty,” Palmer said.
He also demanded the recall of Kevin Rudd from his role as Australia’s ambassador to the U.S., citing his criticism of the American President.
“It’s time to bring Kevin Rudd back from Washington. Very few ambassadors insult the U.S. President, and Rudd stands alone in doing so. Australia needs a strong and effective representative in Washington—someone who can support our nation during these challenging times, as living standards decline and many Australians struggle to afford basic necessities.”
