Naomi Osaka Announces Her Pregnancy And Sets New Goals

Osaka said this week that she would miss the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam competition of 2023, with no justification.

She recently announced her pregnancy to the surprise of her followers and promised to resume playing tennis after giving birth.

Osaka shared this message with her global following on social media by sharing a photo of her prenatal ultrasound.

To put it mildly, the last few years have been fascinating, but she observed, “I find that it’s the most difficult moments in life that may be the most enjoyable.”

These few months apart from the sport have actually made me love and appreciate it more than ever before.

I am aware of how brief life is and I try not to take any of it for granted. Everyday is a blessing and an experience.

I know I have a lot to look forward to in the future, but one thing I’m excited for is when my child says, “That’s my mom,” when they hear someone mention one of my matches.

I want to meet you folks in the beginning of the next year because I’ll be in Australia in 2024 because 2023 will be a year full of lessons for me. Love to each of you forever.

Osaka’s admirers, who have been enthralled by her relationship with boyfriend and American rapper Cordae since the two started dating in 2019, have reacted with excitement to the news.

Osaka and Cordaw are said to have connected after meeting at an NBA game in Los Angeles.

In an interview with GQ, Osaka said, “I just remember seeing that there were so many people who wanted to take a picture with him.”

“And I simply thought it was really great how kind and friendly he was with everyone,” she continued.

Osaka had a challenging year in 2022 on the court and terminated her campaign in September after withdrawing from a match in the second round of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.

When Australia’s Daria Saville withdrew from that competition after just one game due to a knee injury, she had already won her first-round match.

Osaka has lost three of her prior tournaments, including the US Open, in the first round. Since May, she has only won one entire match.

The Japanese star implied in her social media statement that she will be able to participate in the Australian Open in 2019.

Osaka experienced success at Melbourne Park twice, in 2019 and 2021, but lost to Amanda Anisimova in the third round the previous year.

In recent years, she has also been open about her struggles with mental health concerns. She has sometimes withdrawn from significant events because she needed some time away from the spotlight.

After announcing her pregnancy, Osaka becomes the most recent tennis player to take a vacation from the sport.

Angelique Kerber, a three-time Grand Slam champion from Germany, announced her pregnancy in August, indicating that she will make a comeback after giving birth. Former world number three Elina Svitolina is anticipated to return this year after giving child in October.

Serena Williams took a sabbatical in 2017 to give baby, but she eventually made a comeback and continued to compete until 2022, when she announced her retirement.

Osaka will now attempt to add her name to the group of tennis players who have prospered on the court after becoming moms.
