Paramedics spent nearly an hour attempting to save the woman, but sadly, she died at the scene.

A neighbour told 9News that the victim’s 34-year-old son arrived just as shots were being fired at the home.

He was at a friend’s place down the road, and as he approached his house, he saw people shooting at it,” witness Shaun recounted.

As we stepped outside, we heard the son shouting, “My mum’s been shot!

He was clearly distraught and heartbroken.

A little while later, his sister arrived—and she was completely shattered.

Son Witnesses Mother’s Fatal Shooting as Police Launch Targeted Attack Investigation

The son’s 21-year-old partner was inside the home during the shooting but was not injured.

Following the incident, police quickly locked down the area, and a major investigation was launched. The scene was swarmed by officers as detectives began interviewing the victim’s relatives who had arrived at the home.

NSW Police Superintendent Grant Healey confirmed the family is known to authorities and indicated the attack appeared to be targeted. However, it remains unclear whether the 65-year-old woman was the intended victim.

This is abhorrent,” Healey stated. “To approach a home and open fire is completely reckless, and the consequences are devastating.

We now have a 65-year-old grandmother shot in the leg—it’s a heartbreaking situation. The grandmother of someone’s children has been attacked by cowards who fired from the street.

Authorities are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the shooting to come forward.
