We got our first look at Taylor Swift’s new version of “This Love,” and now we know that our new favorite romantic comedy, “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” will be back for another season.
The limited series is based on another book by Jenny Han, whose book To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before became a worldwide hit when it was turned into a Netflix movie.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is also about a girl coming of age, and it follows Isabel, whose friends call her “Belly.” She gets caught in a love triangle between two boys she’s known her whole life.
Belly spends the summer with her mother, brother, her mother’s best friend’s two boys, and her mother. During this time, she experiences her first love, her first heartbreak, and the magic of a “perfect summer,” something we all remember fondly.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Is The Romantic Story
The book series is for young adults, but there’s something about the beachy, summer romance that draws you in, and the fact that it’s predictable makes it feel good. The trailer is also timed to the re-release of Taylor Swift’s 1989 song This Love, which gives us the cheesy, cute vibes we’re looking for.
Who is in The Summer I Turned Pretty?
Just like in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, the producers chose to celebrate new talent to represent the teenagers in the show.
Lana Condor and Noah Centineo were mostly unknown prior to the All the Boys trilogy, and we expect these new young actors will be exploding into the public soon, too.
Lola Tung plays Belly, and Gavin Casalegno and Christopher Briney respectively play Jeremiah and Conrad, the two brothers she feels pulled to and torn between
